HIVE Digital Expands Bitcoin Mining Capacity in Paraguay

According to boerse.de, HIVE Digital Technologies Ltd. has announced the acquisition of Bitfarms' Yguazú site in Paraguay, a 200-MW hydroelectric-powered Bitcoin mining facility. This strategic move is set to increase HIVE's global Bitcoin mining hash rate from its current 6 Exahash per second (EH/s) to an anticipated 25 EH/s by September 2025. The expansion will be executed in two phases: Phase one aims for completion by April 1, 2025, adding approximately 6 EH/s capacity; phase two is expected to finish by August 31, contributing another 6.5 EH/s with high-efficiency water-cooled ASICs.

The total net cost for expanding the site up to full capacity is estimated at $400,000 per MW upon completion. Additionally, HIVE continues progress on a separate project that involves connecting their existing facilities in Canada and Sweden as well as new developments within Latin America using entirely green hydropower sources.
